Born in Philadelphia, and Julliard-trained, Henry is revered for his bass playing alongside Jazz titans as Thelonius Monk, Charles Mingus, Cecil Taylor, Lee Konitz, Sonny Rollins and Pharoah Sanders, to name just a few. He dropped out of music for almost three decades before making one of the most remarkable and intriguing comebacks in Jazz history. He could move effortlessly between bass and violin. “Every number was infused by Grimes’ presence. His spirit was as strong and undeniable as his performance” Ken Micallef, Downbeat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Grimes
