Beloved research professor and chief curator at the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, at the University of Maryland, Berger was the recipient of the 2018 Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography and received an Emmy Award nomination for his work “For All the World to See: Visual Culture and the Struggle for Civil Rights.” Dr. Berger is survived by his husband, Marvin Heiferman.“He was interested so we could be better today and tomorrow.
