My father, Richard Steubinger, lost his life to COVID-19 on April 1, 2020. He had just turned 93 years old on March 17. He touched the lives of so many throughout his life up until his last day here on earth. The staff in the critical care unit at Methodist Hospital called him grandpa. They loved how happy he was each day and always made others smile. He was continually thankful for the wonderful care they gave him. His goal was to live to be 100 years old and featured on the Today Show. His story captured the attention of so many and his story was featured by Harry Smith on the Today show shortly after he passed away. He reminded us all the importance of living life with joy even during difficult times and to find ways to be thankful for our blessings. He also was a very giving person, bringing us up learning to serve others and become active volunteers in our community. Those who knew him always had fun stories to share to make you laugh. He was blessed to live a life close to God and I know he is smiling that beautiful smile daily in heaven.
